Expressive Arts Therapy

Expressive Arts Therapy offers an arts-based approach to psychotherapy. In Expressive Arts, we can turn to all art forms, including movement, theatre, writing, visual arts, music, sound, nature-based practices, amongst others. You do not need to be an artist to participate in this form of therapy. The arts meet you wherever you may be and provides tools to ground you in the moment by connecting you to your physical senses.


This way of working offers you an opportunity to move away from everyday challenges and into your imagination. As the therapist or facilitator I work as your collaborator in the imaginary space. Along with the arts, I accompany you on your journey towards uncovering new perspectives, solutions, and personal strengths.

Expressive Arts is a flexible therapeutic method with a range of applications. This approach is often practiced in one-on-one therapy sessions, group therapy, wellness workshops, Community Arts, and Peace Conflict Transformation work, just to name a few. Children, youth, adults and seniors facing social, emotional, and mental-health difficulties may all benefit from Expressive Arts Therapy.
